Question Cruncher

Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 July 2026

Overview

This policy explains what information Question Cruncher ("we", "us") collects when you use questioncruncher.com and the Question Cruncher app, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect the minimum we need to run a practice-question platform, and we do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

  • Account details. Your name, email address and profile picture, provided by you or by the sign-in provider you choose. When you sign up as a student we also ask for your phone number, school email address, school, year level, curriculum and the subjects you study, so we can show you the right content.
  • Study activity. The questions you attempt, your answers and working, scores, and progress through topics. This is the core of the product — it is what lets us track your progress and adjust difficulty.
  • Usage data. Pages visited, features used, device and browser type, and approximate region derived from your IP address. We use this in aggregate to understand how the product is used and to improve it.
  • Cookies. A session cookie to keep you signed in, and a short-lived referral cookie if you arrive via a referral link. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Signing in

You can sign in with the third-party providers offered on the sign-in page, such as Google. When you do, we receive your basic profile from that provider — your name, email address and profile picture. We never see or store your password for those accounts, and we do not gain access to anything else in them. If you sign up with an email and password instead, the password is stored only as a salted hash.

How we use your information

  • To provide the service: your account, your question history and your progress.
  • To personalise practice, for example adapting question difficulty to your level.
  • To mark your answers and explain solutions: when you submit an answer for marking or ask for an explanation, its content — including typed working and any images of handwritten working you upload — is processed by the AI services we use for marking.
  • To send service emails such as sign-in and account-recovery messages.
  • To respond when you contact support.
  • To understand usage in aggregate and improve the product.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
  • We do not show third-party advertising or share your data with ad networks.

Sharing

We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf — hosting, database, email delivery, payment processing, product analytics, and the AI services that mark answers and generate explanations (your submitted answers, including uploaded images of working, are sent to them for that purpose) — under agreements that limit what they can do with it. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or as part of a corporate transaction such as a merger or asset sale, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.

Retention

We keep your information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records for legal or accounting purposes.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and passwords are stored hashed. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time. Email support@questioncruncher.com and we will respond within a reasonable period. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy law; we honour those too.

Children

Question Cruncher is built for students, including students under 18. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian should review this policy with you and consent to your use of the service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will post the updated version here with a new date, and if the changes are material we will let you know in the app or by email.
